The Chef’s House
The chef needed a weekend house to gather the family and escape from their routine. The design’s request arrived in August, in order to “enjoy the house the upcoming summer”. The chef’s natural and open personality, as well as the short timeframe we had led us to propose a simple house, in the functional as well as in the esthetical and technical sense, inspired in the unassuming character of the client.
We placed two austere volumes, forming an L, containing the main courtyard; one of them for social purposes, and the other a more intimate one. We left a space and proposed a short, see-through wall to provide security to the house, while maintaining some contact with the town’s street. We also established an access at the terrace with a pergola, in order to people-watch.
A spacious kitchen, with a grill area integrated with the family room and dining room are part of a volume created by brick planes. Perpendicular to and in contrast with the social volume, another one, colored in blue, houses the bedrooms, which also opens to an interior courtyard that faces the east.
Juanjo –Ardissone Ferreiro–, together with his team, built us the house of our dreams, with the sensibility every creator has, and in record time, even improving our dream.
