Five

Design Hotel

A group of foreign investors wanted to provide Asuncion with an art & design hotel in a corner of the traditional neighborhood of Villa Morra, where residences, shops, restaurants and a few isolated apartment buildings cohabit under the shadow of trees, reminding us of a calm, residential zone.

With the conviction that real estate growth must match the rhythm of the neighborhood’s development, keeping the area’s character and identity, we added some space between the building and the sidewalk. This measure managed to preserve the front Lapacho trees and avoid any suffocating sensations a pedestrian may have with regards to this new building. At the same time, this generated terraces in the bottom floor that could serve as transition spaces between the public and private areas. In order to de-materialize the mass of the four levels of rooms, the façade was split into black and wooden blocks, which go in and out, generating movement and blending in with the treetops.

The interior design is inspired by music, film, literature and visual arts, with the intention of moving the guest and waking up artistic manifestations. The link between lights and shadows, color and neutrals, full and empty spaces, a lot and a little, contributes to this effect.

The lobby and a restaurant are located at the bottom floor, where its transparency determines the link with the street.
